Steve Wachter, General Manager
Steve was raised in Oyster Bay, Long Island and some of his earliest memories are of being on the water. As a kid he spent most of his days sailing, pulling lobster traps, digging clams, water skiing or fishing. After graduating from the SUNY Maritime College at Fort Schuyler, with a Degree in Marine Engineering, he went to sea on a tanker providing fuel and supplies to the US Navy and NATO forces in the Mediterranean Sea. After a couple of years in the Med he decided to move to the more enjoyable yachting side of the industry. It was in 1982 when Steve took over as Captain of a Hatteras LRC for a very successful owner who also campaigned a very triumphant Ocean Racing Sailing Program. After 8 years of enjoying what Steve describes as "a very good time," his son was born and he moved back ashore to take over managing the facilities which were then known as the Capri Marina and Yachting Center. When the properties were acquired by Brewer Yacht Yards in 1999 he opted to stay aboard with Brewer and has never looked back. He quotes, "I still feel like I’m running a boat but this vessel just doesn't leave port." During the summer, Steve can be found working or on the water doing what he enjoyed as a kid and during the winter months he spends as much time skiing in the mountains as possible.
Regina Kurz, Bookkeeper/Office Manager
Regina joined the Brewer family in 1999. As Office Manager, she is the yard’s primary administrative contact, overseeing all office activities that keep the business running smoothly. Some of her responsibilities include employee administration, customer billing and account management, and accounts payable administration. On top of that, when you call the marina, it is often her cheerful voice you will find on the other end.
