About the Area

Brewer Cove Haven Marina is located on Bullock Cove, at the head of the Narragansett Bay, in Barrington. Just nine miles southeast of Providence, Barrington is convenient to downtown Providence, the airport, the interstate and centrally located to the most ideal cruising grounds throughout New England.

The Wampanoag Indians occupied Barrington for about 8000 years before the Pilgrims landed in 1620. Throughout the 1600s, families settled in the area known as the ‘garden of the colony’, due to is fertile soil and scenic location. Incorporated in 1717, and named after the Barrington parish in England, Barrington continued to grow. In the late 1800s, Barrington became a summer 'resort' for the ‘well to do’, and the Barrington Yacht Club was established in 1908. Today, the historical architecture of the homes and mansions, the beautiful tree-lined streets, the eclectic abundance of shops and delicious restaurants, and the natural beauty of the area’s charming seaside towns enchant visitors. Boasting an 18-hole golf course, a four-acre town beach overlooking the Bay, and an impressive 30-mile bike path that winds through much of Rhode Island's East Bay, Barrington is also nearby to the world's yachting center - Newport.

Though Barrington may make you feel a world away, it’s just 20 minutes from Providence and Newport, an hour from Boston, and 3 hours from New York.
