Due to replacement of worn and defective miter rails (movable rails for bridge openings) both the Connecticut River bridge and the Niantic River bridge will require 2 hours notice for openings over the next few weekends. The rail shipments are staggered so the work will be staggered as well. The 2 hour notice will be required from 8:00pm on Friday until 6:00am on Monday for the following weekends:

Connecticut River Bridge

• Feb. 22 - Feb 25
• Feb. 29 - Mar. 5
• Mar. 7 - Mar. 10
• Mar. 14 - Mar. 17

Niantic River Bridge

• Mar. 21 - Mar. 24
• Mar. 28 - Mar. 31

The work should not impact navigation unless the bridge span needs to open and that will require a 2 hour advanced notice for use of the lift to enable workers to clear themselves and equipment from the bridge.

As always, please maintain communications with the bridge operator on VHF channel 13.
