Directions by Sea Branford Harbor Entrance Buoy, Cow & Calf R “34”, Lat. 41° 14.3 N, Long. 72° 50.5 W. Follow marked channel into Branford River, NOAA Chart #12373. Bruce & Johnson’s West Yard is the first marina on the left (west) bank of the river. Note: Cow & Calf R “34” is NOT a Branford channel marker; leave to port entering Branford River. (Also note: Upon entering the channel, the Branford Yacht Club is the first marina seen on the left (west) bank of the river, followed by our West Yard. This yard houses our gas dock and our customer slips; most transients are docked in our East Yard, which is past the West Yard and on the right of the channel).

Shipyard:

Proceed up the Connecticut River past marker “R26” located in the vicinity of the Essex mooring field. On your port side, you will note two sets of yellow channel (local) markers, the northern pair marking the channel into Brewer Dauntless Shipyard. Proceed westward in the northern channel, past the two other marinas, and you will see Brewer Dauntless Shipyard directly ahead of you. Hail us on VHF channel 9, prior to entering the inner channel.

Marina:

The Marina can be reached by turning west at Red #26 and proceeding through the southern fairway marked by yellow cans. The Marina is just north of the channel. You will notice the fuel dock, which is marked by orange fender balls and the very noticeable Brewer oval. Call on VHF channel 68 for assistance.

Information about the Connecticut River Amtrak Bridge:

From through — all bridges re-open immediately after trains pass and will close in sufficient time for approaching trains. (During the Off Season, bridges will be opened as soon as practicable; in no case more than 20 minutes from time of request).

Enter the Connecticut River via the breakwater channel at Old Saybrook. Proceed upriver following channel buoys to maker #35. Turn to port at marker #35 keeping the marker to starboard. Brewer Deep River Marina is on the Western bank of the river approximately 1/8 mile past the marker.

Directions by Sea:

Bell “8” marks the entrance to the Connecticut River. Follow the channel markers starting between the entrance jetties to Red Nun “26” taking care to observe the no-wake areas as indicated. (The Old Lyme Drawbridge, if closed, will respond to “Old Lyme Draw” on VHF Channel 13.) Once in Essex Harbor, turn west into the second anchorage fairway marked by the second set of two yellow cans. Our Brewer Essex Island sign is just ahead.

Enter the Housatonic River to the east of Stratford point. The channel begins with marker “G-1″ at W 73° 05.40′ / N 41° 09.42′. Follow the well-marked river buoys 1-1/2 miles to Can 19”. Stratford Marina is on your port side just opposite Can 19. Dock staff monitors VHF Channel 9.
