About the Area
Plymouth, Massachusetts, considered ‘America’s Hometown’, has played an important role in American colonial history. Since being established in 1620 by the ‘pilgrims’, English separatists who protested the work of the Church of England, Plymouth appealed to the crew of The Mayflower, who were looking for sheltered waters and a safe harbor. Over the centuries, Plymouth remained a quiet seacoast town whose livelihood depended upon fishing and the maritime trades. Today, this tradition continues, although Plymouth has grown to become a vibrant, major economic and tourist-dependent community along the South Shore.
Centrally located on the Massachusetts coast, Brewer Plymouth Marine is an ideal home port and a convenient departure point for accessing both exceptional cruising grounds and legendary fishing sites. Daytrips to the south include: Provincetown, the Elizabeth Islands, Woods Hole, Nantucket, and Martha's Vineyard, while to the north: Boston, Marblehead, and Salem are within reach. Nicely situated along the shore of a narrow barrier beach, dotted with summer homes, Brewer Plymouth Marine is within walking distance of Plymouth's downtown Harbor District, Plymouth Rock, The Mayflower II, as well as historic homes, museums, antique stores, and restaurants. Rich in history, Plymouth offers visitors many opportunities for touring and exploring.

Modern, concrete floats, accommodating boats to 150 feet, are tucked into the secure harbor. Additionally, rack storage is available for 60 boats, up to 24 feet in length. Rack-stored boats are launched ‘on demand’, and benefit by being stored out of the water. The marina hosts over 1,200 transient vessels each season. Throughout the boating season, skilled dock staff monitor VHF channel 09 & 72 and are always ready to assist boaters upon arrival and departure.

During the winter season, Brewer Plymouth Marine offers complete storage services for both recreational and commercial vessels. Our skilled technicians care for nearly 200 boats during the off season, with as many as 42 boats stored in our secure 50,000 square foot of secure building space, with 33-foot doors, accommodating vessels for safe storage from New England elements.
Winter service work is carried out in well-heated, fully-lit, and fire-protected bays. Boats stored outdoors, also have our full attention. After being carefully set and blocked, boats are checked all winter long to confirm covers are providing proper protection, and that jack stands are offering adequate support. Sailboats masts are stored inside on padded racks, and all rigs in our care are inspected and serviced as needed.

Brewer Plymouth Marine is small in size, but big on service. Although one of the smaller Brewer locations, Brewer Plymouth Marine competently manages projects that are often handled by much larger facilities. Along the waterfront, our reputation for mechanical services is just as well-respected as our top-notch paint and finish facility. On the south coast of Massachusetts, you will not find more experience for service.
From annual maintenance to a complete refit, each yachtsman’s vision is realized while consulting with our service professionals. From an engine repower or systems installation, a fine Awlgrip finish, electrical upgrader, or custom boat building project from the keep up — our team can ensure a quality job!
75 and 35 ton Travelifts, an 18 ton crane with a 70-foot boom, Taylor 15,000 lb capacity negative lift and JLG Gradal manlift fully support the service and storage of nearly 200 boats. There is 50,000 square foot total inside storage and a 33’ by 88’ bay, designated as a paint and fiberglass shop, on approximately three, well-groomed acres.
Whether managing a major engine refit, a fuel tank replacement, or an extensive electrical or systems upgrade, our mechanical staff is fully capable. Our technicians have manufacturers’ certification for: Cummins, Yanmar, Caterpillar, Westerbeke, Crusader, MerCruiser, and Kohler Generators. In addition, we sell and service Marine Air and Cruise Air Systems, SidePower and Vetus bow thrusters; Espar heating equipment; Lewmar, Lofrans, windlasses; and refrigeration systems of all types.
Two Awlgrip application specialists manage fiberglass repair and modification, and gelcoat refinishing. Our flawless varnish applicator complements the crew by expertly completing quality yacht finishes. Whether a minor ding or significantly damaged fiberglass, resulting from collision or fire, our crew has the ability to return your vessel to original condition. We also have the ability to recover blister-damaged boats; maintain interior and exterior brightwork; and provide bottom barrier coating.
ABYC certified technicians provide the electrical service to adhere to industry standards. Whether rewiring your boat or installing communications and navigation equipment, our services include: alternator and inverter installations; battery bank hook-ups; and diagnostic trouble shooting.
Our finish carpenter handles both shipwright and cabinetry work. Whether your next woodworking project requires custom fabrication, major modification, or simple trim work, we can help.
We offer indoor rack storage for masts and provide complete rigging services for everything from furlers, winches, and lifelines — to standing rigging, running rigging, and masthead gear.
For more detail about our service capabilities, please call/contact Tim Moll, General Manager or Dave Johnson, Service Manager on (508) 746 4500. We welcome you to stop by for a tour of the facilities.
