The marina is known for the collection of America's Cup boats that make our yard their home. The fact that these prized yachts rely on Cove Haven speaks volumes for our ability to maintain sophisticated racing yachts, as well as recreational vessels, in our first-class marina facility. The marina has been recently dredged and all new docks and pilings are in place. The 150 ton capacity Marine Travelift permits work on very large vessels.

Cove Haven Marina continues to expand the list of amenities available for our customers, their families and guests. We take great pride in keeping our facility clean and comfortable.

About the Area

Safe Harbor's Cove Haven Marina is located on Bullock Cove, at the head of the Narragansett Bay, in Barrington. Just nine miles southeast of Providence, Barrington is convenient to downtown Providence, the airport, the interstate and centrally located to the most ideal cruising grounds throughout New England. The Wampanoag Indians occupied Barrington for about 8000 years before the Pilgrims landed in 1620. Throughout the 1600s, families settled in the area known as the ‘garden of the colony’, due to its fertile soil and scenic location. Incorporated in 1717, and named after the Barrington parish in England, Barrington continued to grow. In the late 1800s, Barrington became a summer 'resort' for the ‘well to do’, and the Barrington Yacht Club was established in 1908. Today, the historical architecture of the homes and mansions, the beautiful tree-lined streets, the eclectic abundance of shops and delicious restaurants, and the natural beauty of the area’s charming seaside towns enchant visitors. Boasting an 18-hole golf course, a four-acre town beach overlooking the Bay, and an impressive 30-mile bike path that winds through much of Rhode Island's East Bay, Barrington is also nearby to the world's yachting center - Newport. Though Barrington may make you feel a world away, it’s just 20 minutes from Providence and Newport, an hour from Boston, and 3 hours from New York.

Cove Haven Marina is a well-maintained, full-service yacht yard with a reputation for being fair and honest. Each project is handled by a team of skilled technicians and overseen by a project manager. This ensures customers are provided individual attention, as well as regular updates, throughout the process – from start to finish. Although Cove Haven has the talent to professionally manage large boat projects, no project is too small for our crew. Our experience in classic yacht maintenance and restoration is known around the globe, due to our long history of involvement in the care of classic America’s Cup yachts. However, the same skill and attention are provided to our recreational sailors and modern yachts.

The service shops are well maintained, fully lit, and temperature controlled throughout the year. Two travel lifts—one a 60-ton lift, and the other a 150-ton lift—support our ability to haul boats up to 110 feet. Our heavy equipment fleet also includes a 15-ton mobile crane and a 15-ton forklift. This equipment allows us to move efficiently about the property, which spans over six acres, as well as in and out of our storage buildings and paint shop.

The mechanical shop keeps a busy service schedule, tackling everything from basic maintenance to extensive repairs and refits. The vast knowledge and skill of our five-man crew has earned us an excellent service reputation. Our technicians remain on the cutting edge of the marine service industry by attending regularly scheduled service schools, in-house seminars, and keeping certifications up-to-date. Your mechanical projects are in very capable hands at Cove Haven Marina.

Our paint shop is known along the waterfront for top-quality finishes, accurate estimates, and on-time performance. We are experienced in everything from traditional brush application, to modern high-volume, low-pressure spray application. The finish crew also has expertise in major fairing, fitting, and repair of hulls, keels, rudders, and decks. Whether classic, or modern, any yacht passing through our paint shop receives a beautiful transformation.

ABYC certified and capable of installing and servicing everything from inverters, to battery banks, to complete electronics packages, our staff is quite knowledgeable. In addition to refits and reconfigurations, we are also fully versed in powering bow and stern thruster installations.
