The acquisition of the Post Road Boatyard, in 1964, was the start of the Brewer Yacht Yard family of marinas. In 2017, BYY joined the Safe Harbor Marinas family continuing the tradition of world-class marina facilities and boat yards. Located at the head of the East Basin of Mamaroneck Harbor, in the heart of the boating community. Post Road Boatyard is a full-service working boat yard and marina. Along with comfortable accommodations for boats, you will find, tucked into our compact quarters: beautifully groomed grounds, freshly-painted facilities, coiled dock lines, and lovely flowers. We are located next door to the R.G. Brewer Hardware Store, which has been continuously operating since 1879 by the Brewer family. A perfectly protected location for your boat in Mamaroneck, only 12 miles from the Throg's Neck Bridge by water, or 30 minutes from Manhattan by car.

By water, there are many choices for boating activities. You are can visit a multitude of beautiful West Long Island Sound harbors, participate in world-famous historic sailing regattas, and enjoying fishing the waters thriving with bluefish and striped bass.

Our attentive staff will ensure that your needs are met, and that your boat gets the care it deserves.

In town, the Emelin Theater offers a range of shows and musical performances all year long. Within walking distance are restaurants, grocery stores, shops, a train station, and banks. On site is the R.G. Brewer Hardware and Marine Chandlery, established in 1879 and operated by the Brewer family for four generations. Unique in today's mini-mart world, the historic post-and-beam store gives old-fashioned personalized service where the big question is: ‘what don't we have’?

For big city excitement, and plenty of nightlife, New York City is only a 40-minute train ride away.

About the Area

Mamaroneck was purchased in 1661 by an Englishman named John Richbell from Native American Chief Wappaquewam and his brother Manhatahan. Mamaroneck was chartered as a town in March 1788 by The New York Legislature. In 1848, the railroad first came through the village, servicing riders from New York City to Connecticut, and is now the New Haven line of the Metro North. During the 1890s, the parts of Mamaroneck nearest to the water became thriving areas of the community. Mamaroneck Harbor, which was the commercial center of town, bustled with fishing, shipping, and manufacturing industries. With a small population of 1500 during that time, the community has grown to over ten times that size in recent years. Today, with its its population of people from all over the world, Mamaroneck is known as ‘The Friendly Village’—a place for all to enjoy living in a community that welcomes different cultures.
